The primary objective Lily hospitals limited starting the colleges system of education (Lily College of Nursing Science), in collaboration with the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), is to establish a College of Nursing program that aligns with the National Policy on Education and the contemporary educational system in Nigeria. This initiative seeks to provide legal authorization from the Federal Government for Nursing institutions to confer academic certificates upon Nursing graduates.
The ND/HND Nursing program is strategically designed to facilitate the seamless academic progression of graduates within the existing education framework in the country. It is also aligned with the 2016-approved scheme of service for Nurses in Nigeria by the National Council of Establishment. The overarching goal of the ND/HND Nursing program is to equip graduates with the competence, skills, and versatility needed to become proficient Nurse practitioners, adept midwives, and informed public health Nurses. These professionals are expected to apply problem-solving skills in delivering safe, acceptable, effective, and affordable quality health services to address the health needs of individuals, families, and communities across all levels of care.
Admission Requirements:
The minimum entry requirements for ND Nursing include a minimum of five credits, including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, obtained in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB. The JAMB subject combinations for ND Nursing are Use of English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Any combination other than this will not be considered, regardless of the JAMB score. Candidates meeting these requirements are eligible for admission into the program. Cut-off marks will be invited for Screening/Interview by the College.
Key Points about the ND/HND Nursing Program:
- The ND/HND Nursing program is a continuous four-year course, comprising two years for ND and two years for HND. Students commence with the ND Nursing program, which is a non-terminal stage. ND Nursing graduates with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 (Lower Credit) progress to the HND Nursing stage.
- Indexing for HND takes place at the beginning of the first semester of ND II. Students undergo Supervised Clinical Work Experience (SCWE) during the program, divided into two parts of eight weeks each.
- SCWE stipends are facilitated through the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), and the evaluation is based on a pass or fail basis. In the event of failing SCWE, a student may repeat an additional four months of SCWE at their own expense if all other program requirements are met.
- The Council's Professional Exam for General Nursing is administered upon successful completion of HND 1 Nursing. HND Nursing graduates must also sit for the Council's professional exam in one of two specialization options: Midwifery or Public Health Nursing.
- After HND, graduates must undergo a mandatory one-year Supervised Clinical Experience (Attachment) in approved health facilities or institutions. Following the successful completion of this attachment, graduates are eligible for a one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) mobilization.

What is the difference between Basic Nursing and ND Nursing programme?
Basic Nursing graduates are not issued any legally backed academic certificate, they are only issued Testimonial by their Institution and professional licence by Nursing of Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
While ND/HND Nursing graduates will be issued with legally backed academic certificates and professional licences.
Is HND Nursing equivalent to BNSc Nursing Science?
Academically, HND Nursing is not equivalent to BNSc Nursing, as HND Nursing graduates are required to have PGD Nursing before proceeding to MSc Nursing programme while BNSc Nursing can proceed to MSc Nursing without PGD Nursing. However, professionally they may be the same since both HND Nursing and BNSc Nursing graduates usually obtain 2 same professional licenses, namely, Registered Nurse (RN) and Registered Midwife (RM) or Registered Public Health Nurse (RPHN) license.
What are the SSCE O-Level Requirements for ND Nursing?
Candidates must have minimum of 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at not more than two (2) sittings in WAEC, NECO or NABTEB. Combination of WAEC&WAEC, WAEC&NECO or NECO&NECO are accepted but NABTEB must be one sitting.
What are the JAMB subject combinations?
JAMB subject combinations for ND Nursing are Use of English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Any combination apart from the above, will not be considered no matter the JAMB score.
Can I apply with my 2024 JAMB result?
Because our college was not featured in JAMB brochure in the year 2024 but the Website will be upgrade after completion of all accreditation by all agency.
Will you consider those that choose your college as Second Choice?
Candidates MUST choose our college as First Choice among ALL institutions. However, candidates that did not choose our college as First Choice during JAMB registration and now wish to choose our college, can apply for Change of Institutions through JAMB Portal and choose our college as First Choice among all institutions.
What is the minimum cut off marks?
Minimum cut-off marks is usually determined after every JAMB exam for each category of institutions during JAMB Policy Meeting on Admission. The minimum cut-off marks for ND Nursing are the same with the national minimum cut-off marks for Polytechnics. However, the College may the decide to increase its cut-off marks. For the year 2023, the minimum cut-off marks is 140. However, it may be the same or change for subsequent years.
After completing ND Nursing, can I leave the school?
NO. The ND/HND Nursing is a four-year UNINTERUPTED programme. Students starts with ND Nursing programme which is a non-terminal programme. The ND graduates with minimum CGPA of 2.5 (Lower Credit) will then proceed for HND Nursing.
Is proceeding from ND to HND automatic?
YES, only if students earn a minimum CGPA of 2.5 (Lower Credit). However, where a student scores below a CGPA of 2.5, he/she shall be required to repeat ND II and earn minimum of CGPA 2.5 before proceeding to HND Nursing.
Will there be Students Industrial Work Experience (SIWES)/Industrial Training (IT) during the ND programme?
Students shall participate in Supervised Clinical Work Experience (SCWE) while in training. The period of the SCWEs would be in two parts of eight weeks each. The first part of SCWE shall be between the end of ND I,
while the second part shall be between the end of ND II. Stipend for SCWE shall be paid through Industrial Training Fund (ITF). The SCWE shall be graded on a pass or fail basis. Where a student has satisfied all other requirements of the programme BUT FAILED SCWEs, he/she may only be allowed to repeat another four months SCWEs at his/own expenses.
When will students be indexed by the Council?
Indexing shall be at the beginning of first semester of ND II.
When will students sit for Council’s Exam?
Council’s Professional Exam for General Nursing shall be after successful completion of HND 1 Nursing. However, graduates of HND Nursing programme are required to sit for Council’s professional exam in either of the two options of specialization, namely: Midwifery for registration and licensing as Registered Midwife (RM) and Public Health Nursing for registration and licensing as Registered Public Health Nurse (RPHN).
How many Certificates and Licenses will I get after completing HND Nursing?
Graduates of HND Nursing will obtain 2 academic certificates and 2 professional licences. The academic certificates are ND Nursing Certificate and HND Nursing Certificate. The professional licenses are RN Licence and RM or RPHN Licence
Will graduates of HND Nursing go for internship?
Yes, graduates of HND Nursing programme shall undergo a one-year mandatory Supervised Clinical Attachment in an approved health facility or institution before proceeding to NYSC.
Will graduates of HND Nursing go for NYSC?
Yes, graduate of HND Nursing will be mobilized for NYSC after completing a one-year mandatory Supervised Clinical Attachment in an approved health facility or institution.
Is the admission for Basic Midwifery, Community Midwifery, Community Nursing and Post Basic Nursing programmes also through JAMB?
Only ND Nursing is though JAMB for now. Sale of application forms, entrance exam and interview for Basic Nursing, Basic Midwifery, Community Midwifery, Community Nursing, Post Basic Nursing, Post Basic Midwifery, will be done entirely by the College.
I have RN or RM or Post Basic or ND or NCE or CHEW or B.Sc, can I apply for HND Nursing?
You cannot apply for HND Nursing. The ND/HND Nursing is a four-year UNINTERUPTED programme i.e 2 years for ND and 2 years for HND. Only students that start with ND Nursing programme which is a non-terminal programme and obtain minimum CGPA of 2.5(Lower Credit) will proceed for HND Nursing.
However, NBTE and NMCN are working on modalities for an abridgement programme for those with RN or RM to have ND/HND Nursing certificate.
Can I apply for both ND Nursing and Community Nursing at the same?
Yes, since their Exams and Interviews are not in the same day.

Yes. Since their Exams and Interviews are not in the same day.
Will there be Entrance Exam by the College, after sitting for JAMB exams No entrance exam. Only Screening/interview for those that obtain the minimum cut-off marks from JAMB.
Will there be Introductory (Weeding) Exam during ND Nursing programme?
No introductory exam during ND Nursing programme. However, students have must good academic standing to proceed from ND I to ND II. Also, sstudents must earn a minimum CGPA of 2.5 (Lower Credit) to proceed to HND 1 and where a student scores below a CGPA of 2.5, he/she shall be required to repeat ND II and earn minimum of CGPA 2.5 before proceeding to HND Nursing.
Can candidates that are not from Delta State apply?
All citizens of Nigeria can apply for ND Nursing, Basic Nursing, Basic Midwifery, Post Basic Nursing, Post Basic Midwifery, Refresher Nursing and Refresher Midwifery programmes of the College. Only Community Nursing and Community Midwifery programmes are meant for only indigene of Delta State, but is open for other state who is sponsoring their wards with bond.
Can a student that is already studying under the College apply for ND Nursing or any other programme of the College?”
Yes but if admitted, he/she must self-withdraw from the previous programme.
