Lily College of Nursing Sciences, Warri, achieved a major milestone with the successful hosting of its first maiden matriculation ceremony on Thursday, July 17, 2025. The historic event officially welcomed 136 pioneering students (100 in General Nursing and 36 in Basic Midwifery), into the college’s various academic programmes in nursing sciences.

The ceremony, which held at the monarchy event center, attracted dignitaries from the health and education sectors, representatives of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), parents, and well-wishers.

In his welcome address, the Provost of the College, Mr. Felix Udogwu, congratulated the new students for securing admission into the institution and urged them to uphold discipline, dedication, and excellence in their academic pursuits. He emphasized that as the pioneer set, the matriculating students bear the responsibility of laying a strong academic and moral foundation for future intakes.

Mr. Udogwu further reiterated the college’s commitment to producing competent, compassionate, and globally competitive nurses who will contribute meaningfully to healthcare delivery in Nigeria and beyond.

The event featured the administration of the matriculation oath, musical performances, cultural displays, and a symbolic lighting of the torch — representing the beginning of the students’ professional journey in nursing and midwifery.

The ceremony was described as a memorable and inspiring moment for the institution, symbolizing its steady growth and alignment with its vision to be a leading centre for nursing education and professional excellence.
